Inland Empire Research

The Rose Institute has long maintained a regional focus on Southern California’s Inland Empire (usually defined as Riverside and San Bernardino Counties). The region is home to more than 4.6 million residents, making it the nation’s 12th largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) by population. Although Claremont is located in neighboring Los Angeles County, it is often considered part of the western edge of the Inland Empire and is proximate to the region’s largest population centers.

Inland Empire Economic Partnership

For many years, the Rose Institute has collaborated with CMC’s Lowe Institute of Political Economy on Inland Empire research. Rose Director Ken Miller currently serves with Lowe Institute Associate Director Manfred Keil as a member of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) research team. Rose Institute students also co-author articles for the IEEP that are published by Southern California News Group.

Inland Empire Outlook

Since 2010, the Rose Institute has published the Inland Empire Outlook (IEO), a semi-annual publication that includes economic and policy analysis relevant to the Inland Empire region.
