Claremont McKenna College

Community

For generations, the Rose Institute has maintained a close-knit community among its faculty, staff, students, Board Members, and alumni. Teams of faculty, staff, and students work collaboratively on the Institute’s research projects, and Board Members and other alumni mentor students and actively engage in Rose Institute programs.

Senior Staff

The Senior Staff, consisting of the director, assistant director, and administrative coordinator, oversees all Institute operations and provides training, supervision, and mentorship to student research assistants.

Student Staff

The Rose Institute employs nearly 40 students, most of whom remain on staff throughout their time in college. Rose students receive extraordinary training and assume substantial responsibility for managing the Institute’s activities. For many, the Institute becomes their primary community on campus.

Meet the Students

Working as an RA at the Rose, there is no shortage of opportunities to get involved on impactful research projects. You can collaborate with professors, city officials, and industry leaders to explore topics you are passionate about, and pick up some serious research skills in the process. But more importantly, you get to do that work with an incredibly talented and supportive group of peers. The tight knit community of “Rosies” is one that I didn’t expect to find at a campus research institute, but one that I’ve deeply appreciated during my time at CMC.

Board of Governors

The Board of Governors consists of distinguished leaders in the public and private sectors who share a strong commitment to the Rose Institute’s mission. Board members help guide the Institute’s strategic planning, provide counsel to senior staff, advise students on projects, and contribute financially to the Institute’s work.

Alumni

Over the past 50 years, more than 450 students have worked for the Institute and have gone on to pursue impressive and purposeful lives. We stay in close contact with many of them, including those who serve on our Board of Governors, assist with our projects, give talks on campus, mentor current students, and contribute financially to our work. The Rose Institute Alumni Society facilitates connection among our alumni and helps connect them with current students.
